Episode 11 - Before Coming Out Books

This episode is not about guidebooks to coming out or anything like that: it's about a few books I read before I came out that featured small but important lesbian moments. These moments had a huge impact on me. I also talk about a recent book that I think might do the same for young lesbians today. Also, your romance novel of the week and some more musing on self-publishing.

Episode 10 - Cheerleaders Etc

This week tackles a variety of books: a self published romance novella, YA books dealing with gender and identity, a bittersweet not-quite-gay novel set in the sixties, plus seriously intense cheerleaders. Listen to the end for brief remarks from my cat and faithful reading buddy, Bogey!

Look for micro reviews on this page and in my twitter feed by the end of the weekend.

Episode 9 - Werewolves

This week I talk about hot lesbian werewolves in our romance novel of the week, PLUS lesbian feminist werewolves in college, and also regular lesbians in college. Also I get really excited about CARRY THE ONE by Carol Anshaw, Lambda Literary Award nominee for good reason.

Lots of great titles this week, so take a listen below the cut or download on iTunes.

quote from ART OF DETECTION by Laurie R King (SPOILERS)

A lovely quote from the end of THE ART OF DETECTION, the last book of Laurie R King's mystery series starring the lovely Inspector Kate Martinelli. This quote contains spoilers for certain aspects of the book so if you haven't read the series (you should, it's good) proceed at your own risk.

Episode 8 - YA Triumph / Romance Fail

This week on the podcast: once again I fail to have a romance novel for you this week--but I have a possible explanation (or excuse). I talk a little about the Lambda Literary Award nominees  particularly some titles from the YA category that I have enjoyed. A new segment, quote of the week, is introduced. Plus, I rave about the Kate Martinelli mystery series by Laurie R. King.

Episode 7 - Don't Be Afraid of Virginia Woolf

This week, four things I didn't know about Virginia Woolf, Alison Bechdel writes perfect stories that couldn't be told any other way, and I get really excited about how these authors discuss the nature of reality. Direct download plus embedded player below the cut.
